Self-professed 'building regs nerd', with over two decades of experience in the construction industry and am still loving every minute of it (I think?!)

I had a childhood passion for Lego and progressed to laying real bricks after leaving school. My career took a move from site and into building control in 2006. In 2018 I co-founded C3 Design Approvals - an Approved Inspector (now Registered Building Control Approver) with a small, but talented team providing building control services across England and Wales.

I’m a Registered Building Inspector (Class 3 G/H & 4) and have experience in most sectors, including specialist sectors such as Custodial and Defence. Amongst my career highlights are involvement with the construction of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, the Library of Birmingham, University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Away from work, I'm a family man with two children. I have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy walking, climbing, or messing about on the sea, although none of these are done with any skill or grace. In my ‘spare’ time – whatever that is – I serve within a Specialist Team of Army Reserve Royal Engineers and volunteer with British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
