JON CUMBERLIDGE

I am self-professed 'building regs nerd'. I have over two decades of experience in the construction industry and am still loving every minute of it!

I had a childhood passion for Lego and progressed to laying real bricks after leaving school. My career took a move from site and into building control in 2006. In 2018 I co-founded C3 Design Approvals - an Approved Inspector who’s small, but highly qualified expert team provide building regulation and fire safety compliance services across England and Wales.

I have experience of most sectors including specialist sectors such as Custodial and Defence. Amongst my career highlights are involvement with the construction of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, the Library of Birmingham, University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Away from work I'm a family man with two children. I have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy climbing, mountain biking or messing about in a kayak, although none of these are done with any skill or grace. In my ‘spare’ time – whatever that is – I serve within a Specialist Team of Army Reserve Royal Engineers and volunteer with British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
